Maruti WagonR
Maruti’s popular hatchback WagonR has consistently been the number one choice of Indian customers for the past few months. With sales of 19,190 units last month, WagonR sales have surpassed last month’s sales of 16,814 units. In fact, WagonR sales now almost match as compared to last June when the carmaker sold 19,447 units.
Maruti Swift
Last month, the Swift hatchback managed to overtake the Tata Nexon by the second spot after returning to the top-10 fold sometime in May. Maruti sold 16,213 units last month. It has increased by about 2,000 units since May this year. However, in June last year, Maruti sold more Swifts than the previous month. Despite the challenges of Covid, Maruti had sold 17,227 units during the same month last year.
Maruti Baleno
The new generation Baleno has also managed to outpace the Tata Nexon with 16,103 units sold in June. The Baleno, now ranked third, has seen a significant increase in its sales figures as against 13,970 units sold in May. Maruti has sold over 1,400 units in the last month as well as compared to the sales figures in June last year. Earlier this year, Maruti launched the new Baleno with a host of new features and technical upgrades.
Tata Nexon
The popular subcompact SUV from Tata Motors continues to be the number one SUV in India in June. However, there has been a slight decline in its sales as compared to May this year. Last month, Tata sold 14,295 units of the Nexon, up from 14,614 units in May. However, compared to June last year when Tata sold only 8,033 units, the sales of the Nexon increased significantly.
Hyundai Creta
Hyundai’s flagship compact SUV, the Creta, remains firmly at number five. The Korean carmaker sold 13,790 units of the SUV from 10,973 units in May. Hyundai Creta sales have increased significantly compared to June last year when the carmaker sold just 9,941 units. Creta continues to be the leader in the compact SUV segment in India.
Maruti Alto
Due to get a facelift later this year, the existing model of Maruti Alto continues to be a strong favorite among buyers. Maruti sold as many Altos as Hyundai Creta last month. Sales have increased by more than 850 units since May this year. In June last year, Maruti sold 12,513 units of the Alto, which reflects the small hatchback’s steady performance over the years.
Maruti Dzire
The DZire remains the only subcompact sedan to feature in the list of top 10 cars sold every month in India. Maruti sold 12,597 units of the DZire last month, which is also higher than the 11,603 units sold in May. Long for the facelift, the DZire is one of the most consistent performers in the Maruti stable. In June last year, Maruti Dzire got 12,639 houses across India.
Maruti Ertiga
The new generation Ertiga has been stuck with a long waiting period since its launch in April. Its sales have dropped significantly since its launch. Maruti sold 10,423 units of Ertiga in June, up from 12,226 units in the previous month and 14,889 units in the launch month this year.
Tata Punch
Tata Motors made the second entry on the list last month, with the punch SUV exploring 10,414 homes last month. After an initial burst, Punch had lost some steam in recent months. Punch was launched late last year, and. Citroen is soon going to find a new rival, which is slated to launch later this month.
Hyundai Venue
The recent launch of the new-generation Venue has no credit behind the subcompact SUV’s return to the top-10 fold. However, this is just an indication that the rivalry between the new generation Venue and Brezza is likely to intensify in the coming days. In June, Hyundai sold 10,321 units of the older generation Venue. Last year, Hyundai could sell only 4,865 units of the subcompact SUV during the same month.
