Apple has reportedly delayed the launch of its electric vehicle, called the ‘Apple Car’, to 2026 and is expected to cost less than $100,000. The project of this vehicle is known as ‘Titan’ and it seems to be in limbo for the past few months.
Apple is narrowing down its approach to a self-driving electric vehicle, Gizmochina reports.
Initially, the iPhone maker intended to create an automobile without a steering wheel or pedals, allowing passengers to sit facing each other in a limousine-style vehicle. However, the project has now reduced in scope and will have a more conventional design with driver’s seat, steering wheel and pedals.
The vehicle will not have fully autonomous driving or self-driving features, but it will be able to drive on its own on highways. This will give users enough autonomy to play games or watch videos while driving on the road, but will request you to handle it when you are in a city or during inclement weather.
Since the tech giant has toned down the features and technologies for the vehicle, the Apple Car will now cost less than $100,000 instead of the more than $120,000 that was previously expected.
The news of Apple Car coming in 2024 first came. The design of this vehicle is currently being worked on by the company, but it will be completed by the end of next year.
After that, the features list for the car is expected to be finished by 2024, and testing will begin in 2025 ahead of the Apple Car’s expected launch in 2026.
