The 5-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated new car launches of next year (2023). The carmaker will showcase the final production variant at the Delhi Auto Expo to be held in Greater Noida in January. At the biennial event, the carmaker will also unveil two of its upcoming new SUVs, including the Maruti Baleno Cross and a new MPV based on the Toyota Innova Highcross. While the official launch of the 5-door Maruti Jimny is a month away, its final production has been caught on camera in Delhi. The model as seen was completely covered when unloaded from the truck.
Here, the off-road SUV will be offered with a 1.5L K15C naturally aspirated petrol engine with mild hybrid technology. The setup will offer 101bhp of maximum power and 137Nm of torque. The same powertrain also powers the new Brezza, Grand Vitara and the updated Ertiga and XL6. The new 5-door Jimny can be mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Like the Maruti Grand Vitara, the 5-door Maruti Jimny will come with Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro AWD system. It should be noted that the Vitara’s AllGrip AWD setup does not have a low-ratio gear which enhances off-road driving capability by increasing engine torque and limiting top speed. It can be switched between 2H (two-wheel drive high) and 4H (four-wheel drive high) for off-roading. The new Maruti Jimny will be offered as a lifestyle off-road SUV, which is said to measure 3850 mm in length, 1645 mm in width and 1730 mm in height.
Official details of the new Jimny 5-door have been kept under wraps for now. However, it is likely to come with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system instead of the 7-inch unit. Some of its features will be taken from the new Brezza and Grand Vitara.
