New SUVs Have The Most Stunning Interiors

SUVs have become the most popular segment on the road, mostly thanks to improved practicality, higher seating positions, and added safety over a typical sedans or wagon. As the market became completely saturated with SUV body styles, many automakers have designed their SUV interiors to be attractive. And thanks to the advent of the luxury SUV trend, automakers are increasingly experimenting and using exotic materials in their interiors—such as forged carbon fiber, Swarovski crystals, and even treated copper.

While some SUV interiors have been reviewed as being overpriced, many are considered works of art – beautiful to look at, comfortable to touch and look at, and comfortable to use. From Italian to Korean makers, these 2022 SUVs feature some of the most luxurious interiors.

1. Genesis GV70

cars360

The Genesis GV70 is a mid-range offering from the Korean brand. Based on the G70 sedan, the GV70 shares most of the drivetrain components and the diesel engine – but the gasoline engines differ. The GV70 gets a 2.5-litre turbocharged i4 and a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6.

The GV70 features a beautifully designed interior with a simple, yet elegant layout. While the design of the steering wheel is still up for debate, the dashboard and controls are excellently designed and maintained. The seats are comfortable, and the entire interior can be covered with leather—for one price. The GV70 – and the rest of the Genesis range for that matter – are certainly close to or on par with more expensive competitors.

2. Kia Sportage

The new Kia Sportage is a major departure from the outgoing model. While the exterior design may be controversial to some, the interior is certainly a premium over the price. The previous model Sportage was fine, but it had started to show its age.

The new Sportage dashboard has gone for a modern look with dual screens – one for the instrument cluster and the other for the infotainment. One feature that will please many is that Kia has kept the climate control separate from the screen. The rest of the interior shares the modern look, with soft leather being an option. Like most cars at this price, some scratched plastic can be found down the interior, but it’s hardly a concern.

3. Volvo XC90

cars360

The Volvo XC90 has been around since 2015, but it’s still a masterclass in a minimalist yet elegant design. From the non-aggressive soft corners to the beautiful leather and optional two-tone steering wheel, the XC90 is simply great.

Volvo recently updated the XC90’s infotainment to run on Google’s Android operating system instead of its own system. This makes operation and connecting extremely simple and easy – just like all Volvo products should be.

4. BMW iX

cars360

The BMW IX is the brand’s first choice of electric car and has some features and design elements that are not found on other ICE, and even electric, BMWs. For one, the interior differs from all other models in that there is no transmission tunnel in the front of the cabin and no prop-shaft tunnel in the rear – which usually hinders leg space.

The dashboard and steering wheel are also completely different. The wheel has a square shape to accommodate the large instrument cluster screen. The instrument cluster and infotainment screen are connected and curved to give the cabin a sophisticated look. The sliver of thin air adds to the bespoke style throughout. Overall, really nice, well built and excellently designed interior.

5. Jaguar F-Pace

cars360

The Jaguar F-Pace recently got a facelift and has been tweaked to fit in with the new slim and angular Jaguar design language. The headlights and taillights are new, and the entire exterior of the car looks better.

The interior had a major overhaul. The instrument cluster is now a screen, the infotainment screen found in Land Rover products has been replaced and the steering wheel is more elegant. The seats have also been updated with more interesting and premium looking designs. Overall, it is a great ‘budget’ luxury SUV.

6. Porsche Cayenne

cars360

The interior of the Porsche Cayenne has always been luxurious – from the first generation model with its strange triangular steering wheel to the beautiful dashboard of the second generation, and now the third generation, which more closely resembles the 911.

The interior is less cluttered compared to the previous generation, but it still offers all the functionality. The dashboard is dominated by a huge infotainment screen, with only a few physical buttons near the gear selector. Unlike many other VW Group products, the Cayenne still has a physical tachometer in the instrument cluster—which is great.

7. Aston Martin DBX707

cars360

The interior of the new Aston Martin DBX707 remains the same as the regular DBX, but with a few subtle touches. The dashboard is elegantly designed with curved lines around the central infotainment screen. Unlike many other Aston Martin products – the 707 gets some large shift pedals on the round wheels – and the instrument cluster is completely digital.

The entire interior is covered with leather, some of which is perforated. On the 707 model, the leather comes in some very questionable colors, but it still looks good. The 707 model could be optioned with AMR Green inlays in the seats and contrast stitching for an elegant design.

8. Rolls-Royce Cullinan

cars360

The Rolls-Royce Cullinan is undoubtedly the most luxurious and comfortable SUV in the world. It is the elegance that is put into a tangible medium and made to resemble a car. The general design follows the trend of Rolls-Royce since BMW took over in the late ’90s, but its interior emphasizes the fact that it’s an SUV.

Like all Rolls-Royce cars, the options are literally endless when it comes to materials and options. From the soft leather and embossed spirit of ecstasy logo to the wood inlays and crystal glass infotainment controller on the dash and steering wheel. The interior is the best in the business in terms of comfort and personalization.

9. Range Rover Vogue

cars360

The new Range Rover is a logical step up over the previous generation – which was no slouch. The new interior is much more simple, and the ‘floating’ infotainment display gives off an air of top-tier luxury. Well, with a starting price of over $100,000, this has to be the best non-über luxury SUV in the market.

The new Range Rover gets a fully digital instrument cluster, which is neatly hinged under a binnacle and not just on the dash like in the Hyundai Tucson. The new steering wheel is elegant and the 2/4 spoke design helps create Mercedes-Benz S-Class level of luxury. Definitely one of the best minimalist interiors on the market currently.

10. Bentley Bentayga S

cars360

Finally, the Bentley Bentayga S. While it may not be the best looking vehicle on the exterior – especially with those taillights on – the Bentayga has one of the most gorgeous interiors of any vehicle on sale. Most of the design elements are shared with the Continental and Flying Spur, which is certainly not a bad thing.

The interior of the Bentayga S is a bit more aggressive than that of the first-generation Bentayga, but it still maintains the luxury and comfort factor. There are more colors to choose from and optional wood or carbon-fiber inlays are more prominent on the dashboard. The Bentayga should definitely win an award for its interior, and we hope to see more from the British marque.
